Microneedling in Atlanta

Newer, Smoother, and More Youthful Skin

Microneedling is a rejuvenating cosmetic procedure popular for its skin benefits and treatment versatility. Microneedling kick-starts the body’s natural healing process to help produce newer, smoother, and more youthful skin.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy (CIT), uses carefully crafted tools and techniques to puncture the skin using small, sterile needles. These tiny needles create micro-injuries that then stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen. The body sends new, healing cells to the treated areas, which helps achieve smoother, tighter, and clearer skin.

Popular methods of collagen induction therapy include microneedling, dermarolling, or skin needling. This is an excellent method of rejuvenating the skin and helping your natural beauty shine through previously dull, damaged skin. It is an extremely versatile treatment, available on its own or as a booster for other MedSpa procedures. At Nip & Tuck Plastic Surgery, Nicholas Jones, MD, FACS, offers CIT through microneedling treatments in our MedSpa center.

What are the Benefits of Microneedling?

Microneedling can be used to brighten the skin and reduce the appearance of many ailments, including signs of aging and skin conditions. When combined with other treatments, it can boost the results, helping serums and solutions penetrate deep into the layers of skin. It can even reduce healing times, as it causes the body to send regenerative cells to the area. Microneedling is a popular procedure among patients of many different ages and skin types. This may be due to its long list of benefits and incredible results.

Microneedling can help to treat many blemishes, including:

  • Acne
  • Alopecia and types of hair loss
  • Enlarged pores
  • Loose skin
  • Scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Sun damage
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation and dark patches on the skin

Microneedling Candidates

Microneedling is a minimally-invasive technique that can be administered on many different skin types and conditions. It is most prevalent in patients above 40, however many of our younger Atlanta microneedling patients find that combining it with other procedures can boost their final results. Some patients may not be ideal candidates for this procedure and instead may benefit from different cosmetic enhancements.

Patients with deep scars, wrinkles, or severe acne may not be eligible for microneedling. Additionally, those with medical concerns like diabetes or conditions requiring blood thinners or anticoagulants should consult with Dr. Jones, as they may not be optimal candidates for this type of treatment.

Which Areas Can Microneedling Treat?

Microneedling is a skin-enhancing treatment, but it is typically reserved for areas most susceptible to the sun and side effects of aging. It is commonly performed on the face or the hands. In some cases, Microneedling can be performed in other areas, such as the stomach, thighs, buttocks, or arms.

At Nip & Tuck’s MedSpa center, we offer customizable treatments for microneedling and similar procedures. During your initial consultation for microneedling Atlanta plastic surgeon, Dr. Jones will help you plan your ideal cosmetic treatment.

How Soon Will I See Microneedling Results?

The results of a standalone microneedling treatment will slowly reveal themselves, with full visibility appearing around four to six weeks. Since this treatment relies on the body’s own cells to help rejuvenate and refresh the upper layers of skin, patients will begin to see an improvement as the new cells are forming.

There is no downtime for a microneedling procedure, which means patients will not need to take any time off or suffer from pain or discomfort for an extended period. There may be slight inflammation and redness after the initial application, but this subsides naturally or with the application of cold compresses.
